Rodney Spencer of Free
Spirit Farm teaches bow building classes at different locations on an as-it-happens schedule. Participants begin with a piece of Nova Scotia white ash and create their own selfbow by carving and
shaping the wood into a bow custom made for their draw length. Class fee of $170.00 plus tax includes all
materials, use of workbenches and tools, written instructions and personal
hands-on instruction. Participants will also receive an Introduction to Archery manual. Class size is
limited, and participants can expect to complete their bow in
three days or less. A waiting
list will be maintained for people who want to join a class.
A lifelong traditional
archer and experienced bowyer, Rodney led bow building courses for a number of
years at the annual primitive archery shoot held by New Annan Archers. Rodney is also a Canadian Certified
Level 1 Archery Coach and a Certified International Bowhunting Instructor.
